Enyu-An

Enyu-An is a salon and showroom for Maruwakaya, a company known for the production of “monozukuri” (meaning craftsmanship or the art of design and manufacturing) which links traditional crafts to contemporary art.
The counter is made from Japanese cedar and serves as the focal point of the room while the rest of the space is designed by utilizing only lintels, sills and pillars. The heights of each lintel are varied and the numbers of the pillars are limited. These arrangements of the lintels and the pillars allow for visitors naturally sense the variations in the design.
The wooden structures are not attached to the pre-existing space as to avoid permanently affecting the existing surfaces. En-yu-An functions as a platform to display the works of Maruwakaya while simultaneously impacting the aesthetic of the interior.

円遊庵

伝統工芸と現代を繋ぐモノづくりをプロデュースする丸若屋のサロン兼ショールーム。
杉のカウンターを中心として鴨居、敷居、柱のみで空間を構成した。
場として必要な寸法に合わせて高さを変えた連続する鴨居と、配置や本数を絞った柱の配置により、無自覚的に空間の変化を感じ誘導されることで、丸若裕俊によって設えられた物を見ながら丸若屋の世界観を感じることができる。
